The NavySEALs.com CrossFit program
In every category of training, SEALs operate at the razor sharp tip of the spear. This is why only the best training methods are used to develop and equip America’s elite.

In the last few years, a growing insurgency of the program CrossFit® has emerged as the preeminent strength and conditioning program for many SEALs, to the extent that it is utilized in every phase of BUD/S and SQT, and within the SEAL Teams as an integral component of the PT program.

CrossFit is the principal strength and conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide.

Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and, on average, punish the specialist.

The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We’ve used our same routines for elderly individuals with heart disease and cage fighters one month out from televised bouts. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs.

The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree not kind. Our terrorist hunters, skiers, mountain bike riders and housewives have found their best fitness from the same regimen.

Getting Fit, Even if It Kills You

Brian Anderson does the horizontal iron cross while Eugene Allen performs a handstand push-up from the rings behind him in Tacoma, Wash.

WHILE many gymgoers complain that they might not survive a tough workout, Brian Anderson can speak from experience. For his first CrossFit session, he swung a 44-pound steel ball with a handle over his head and between his legs. The aim was to do 50 quick repetitions, rest and repeat. After 30 minutes, Mr. Anderson, a 38-year-old member of the special weapons and tactics team in the sheriff's office in Tacoma, Wash., left the gym with his muscles sapped and back pain so excruciating that he had to lie in the driveway to collect himself.
